This resort of Borovets opened in 1896 and its Bulgaria’s oldest ski hill. It’s set on over 1300 meters above sea level and it’s surrounded by the breathtaking summits of Rila, which is the highest mountain in the Balkans. The area had put a bid in to host the 2014 Winter Olympics, but it was out done by Sochi, Russia. It’s a great place and it has loads to offer anyone looking for a great vacation.
