Mozambique is located in the South Eastern tip of Africa and it as over 2500km of coastline. This is one of the best kept secrets in Southern Africa, as it has amazing white beaches, which not many tourists have seen. There are several islands and coral reefs, which make it ideal for anyone wanting to go snorkelling or diving. The one highlight which should be seen is Mozambique Island, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The country suffered through a 16-year old civil war, but that is all in the past and the country is looking to the future. The country is opening up to tourism, but at present, it is mainly in the form of package tours. Independent travellers are relatively few in number, but all visitors leave Mozambique in awe of its beautiful beaches and warm friendly people.
